DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPECTS
OF PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGY IN THE WORLD

The
Conference will take stock of the evolution of professional
geology in the past fifty years,
in response to the challenges posed by deep and fast
socioeconomic changes.
The Conference will revolve around the following main topics:
- updating of scientific knowledge
- technological development
- awareness of the public and of law-makers
Insights into these topics will help to define the new profiles
of professional geologists,
who are expected to support more believable models of
socioeconomic development
and thus to combine basic consulting services with
decision-making
and operation/management activities.
In line with the above objectives, the Conference will consist
of three Sessions:
- FIRST SESSION
Status and evolution of scientific knowledge in the field of
geology;
- SECOND SESSION
Status and evolution of legislation on the geological
profession;
- THIRD SESSION
Status and evolution of geological applications.
The results of the Conference are hoped to contribute to
projects of geological
development based on intensification of scientific research,
expansion of
technical and technological applications and connection with
economic and social sciences.
